SBC101 (AI-1944) is an orally bioavailable small molecule inhibitor of the actin-related protein 2/3 complex subunit 2 (ARPC2), currently being developed by SapiensBio for the treatment of idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF). Identified using the company's AI-driven SAPIENTIA platform, SBC101 directly binds to ARPC2 to inhibit the function of the ARP2/3 complex, which is essential for actin polymerization and cellular processes involved in the progression of fibrosis. Preclinical studies in bleomycin-induced lung fibrosis models have demonstrated therapeutic efficacy and a favorable safety profile. The drug is currently in the IND-enabling stage of development.
