Overview

SBF-1 is a synthetic steroidal glycoside and an analog of OSW-1, primarily studied for its anticancer and immunosuppressive activities. It demonstrates strong **antitumor activity** in models of cervical cancer, acting through direct binding and inhibition of the **sarco/endoplasmic reticulum Ca2+ ATPase 2 (SERCA2)**, leading to disruption of calcium homeostasis, induction of endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress, and subsequent cell death[1]. In addition, SBF-1 has been shown to possess immunosuppressive activity by inhibiting T lymphocyte proliferation and activation, mainly through the blockage of the AKT signaling pathway, resulting in decreased expression of T cell activation markers and cytokines, and induction of apoptosis in activated T cells[3].
