Drug intelligence / Profile preview
SBI-993 is a small molecule inhibitor of the transcription factor Carbohydrate responsive element binding protein (ChREBP), also known as MLXIPL. In hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), ChREBP acts as an oncogene by regulating the PI3K regulatory subunit p85α, which sustains PI3K/AKT signaling, and by rerouting metabolic fluxes to support cell anabolism. SBI-993 has shown the ability to suppress in vivo HCC tumor growth in preclinical models, highlighting its potential as a targeted therapy for liver cancer.
