Drug intelligence / Profile preview
SBK010 is a recombinant humanized monoclonal antibody targeting Basigin (also known as CD147 or EMMPRIN), developed by Chengdu Shibeikang Biopharmaceutical Technology for the treatment of acute ischemic stroke (AIS). Basigin is a transmembrane glycoprotein that is significantly upregulated in the brain following ischemic injury, where it promotes the expression of matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) and triggers inflammatory cascades. These processes contribute to blood-brain barrier disruption, cerebral edema, and secondary neuronal damage. By binding to and neutralizing Basigin, SBK010 aims to mitigate these pathological mechanisms, potentially reducing infarct volume and improving neurological outcomes. The drug is currently being evaluated in early-phase clinical trials to assess its safety, tolerability, and pharmacokinetic profile in patients with AIS.
