SBK012 is a recombinant human prourokinase (rhPro-UK) developed by Chengdu Shibeikang Biopharmaceutical Technology Co., Ltd. It is a single-chain urokinase-type plasminogen activator (scu-PA) produced using a mammalian cell (CHO) expression system, which results in a glycosylated protein similar to endogenous human prourokinase. SBK012 acts as a fibrin-selective thrombolytic agent; it is a zymogen that is converted into active urokinase primarily at the site of a thrombus, where it activates plasminogen to plasmin, leading to the dissolution of fibrin clots. This mechanism provides targeted thrombolysis with a reduced risk of systemic bleeding compared to non-selective agents. It is currently being investigated for the treatment of acute ischemic stroke (AIS) and is being evaluated in patients with renal impairment to determine appropriate dosing and safety profiles.
