Overview

SBL-002 is a novel polycation nanomedicine developed by Sable Therapeutics for the treatment of obesity. It is designed to significantly reduce fat cell (adipocyte) volume, with preclinical data suggesting up to a 70% reduction in targeted adipose tissue. The compound is uniquely engineered for selective uptake by adipose cells, enabling targeted fat reduction in both visceral and subcutaneous depots. Additionally, SBL-002 has potential as a discrete drug delivery system for other fat-reducing agents, such as GLP-1 receptor agonists. The technology was originally developed at Columbia University by Drs. Kam Leong and Li Qiang and exclusively licensed to Sable Therapeutics[2][3][4].
