Drug intelligence / Profile preview
SBM-05 is a biosimilar monoclonal antibody developed by Shilpa Biologicals that targets the programmed cell death protein 1 (PD-1) receptor. By binding to PD-1, SBM-05 prevents its interaction with ligands PD-L1 and PD-L2, thereby inhibiting the immunosuppressive signaling pathway that tumors use to evade the immune system. This blockade enhances T-cell-mediated antitumor activity. SBM-05 is currently being developed for the treatment of various malignancies, including melanoma, Hodgkin disease, renal cell carcinoma, and non-small cell lung carcinoma, and is in Phase 1 clinical development.
