Drug intelligence / Profile preview
SBM-06 is a monoclonal antibody biosimilar of nivolumab, currently in preclinical development by Shilpa Biologicals. It is designed to target the programmed cell death protein 1 (PD-1) receptor, an immune checkpoint receptor expressed on T cells. By binding to PD-1, SBM-06 blocks its interaction with the ligands PD-L1 and PD-L2, which are often overexpressed on tumor cells to evade immune detection. This blockade restores T-cell mediated anti-tumor activity. The development of SBM-06 focuses on a wide range of malignancies, including melanoma, non-small cell lung carcinoma (NSCLC), renal cell carcinoma (RCC), Hodgkin lymphoma, squamous cell carcinoma of the head and neck (SCCHN), and mesothelioma.
