Drug intelligence / Profile preview
SBS6002 is a proposed pegfilgrastim biosimilar being developed for the treatment and prevention of neutropenia, particularly chemotherapy-induced neutropenia in patients with non-myeloid malignancies. As a biosimilar to Neulasta, its active ingredient is pegfilgrastim, a PEGylated form of recombinant human granulocyte colony-stimulating factor (G-CSF). Pegfilgrastim works by binding to the G-CSF receptor (G-CSFR), which stimulates the production, maturation, and activation of neutrophils, thereby reducing the duration and severity of neutropenia. SBS6002 has been evaluated in a Phase 1 bioequivalence trial in healthy volunteers to compare its pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic profiles with the reference product, Neulasta, following subcutaneous administration.
