Drug intelligence / Profile preview
SBX1977 is a novel, plant-based topical drug candidate being developed by Stramsen Biotech for the treatment of acute and chronic wounds, including chronic diabetic wounds. As a botanical drug, it is engineered from plant derivatives and has demonstrated potent antimicrobial activity along with the ability to stimulate cell proliferation and tissue regeneration. The FDA has acknowledged the observational and traditional use of its plant components. Following a pre-IND meeting in September 2024, the developer was advised by the FDA to conduct a focused Phase 1 clinical trial to establish a safety profile for the candidate.
