SC 41930 is a synthetic small molecule that acts as a potent and selective antagonist of the leukotriene B4 (LTB4) receptor. It has demonstrated significant anti-inflammatory effects in preclinical models, including reduction of inflammation in guinea pig models of colonic and middle ear inflammation. The compound’s anti-inflammatory activity is attributed to its antagonism of LTB4 receptors on human neutrophils and other cells, as well as postreceptor inhibition of inflammatory mediator production.
