Drug intelligence / Profile preview
SC-Ad6-1 is an investigational single-cycle adenovirus vector vaccine developed for the prevention of COVID-19. It is designed to deliver SARS-CoV-2 antigens and stimulate an immune response against the virus. Unlike traditional replication-defective adenoviral vaccines, single-cycle adenovirus vectors like SC-Ad6-1 can replicate their genome and express high levels of antigen in host cells but are engineered to be incapable of producing infectious viral particles, enhancing immunogenicity while maintaining safety. The vaccine is administered via intramuscular, intranasal, or inhaled routes and is currently being evaluated in Phase 1 clinical trials for its safety, reactogenicity, and immunogenicity in healthy adults. The primary developer is Tetherex Pharmaceuticals.
