Overview

SC0806 is an investigational implantable combination product for **complete traumatic spinal cord injury**. Developed from a spinal-cord repair concept originated through research associated with Karolinska Institutet and Karolinska University Hospital, it comprises a biodegradable channel-containing implant loaded with heparin-activated recombinant fibroblast growth factor 1 and used with peripheral nerve grafts. The implant is surgically placed across the spinal-cord lesion to physically guide regenerating nerve fibers while FGF1 activates fibroblast growth factor receptor signaling intended to support neurite outgrowth and nerve regeneration. BioArctic’s Phase 1/2 study did not meet its primary efficacy endpoint at interim analysis, and BioArctic stopped enrollment and decided not to continue development of the complete spinal cord injury project.
