Developed by researchers at The First Affiliated Hospital with Nanjing Medical University, SC101 is designed to silence the expression of its target gene, likely Angiotensinogen (AGT), to provide sustained reduction in blood pressure. A distinguishing feature of SC101 is its unique administration route; it is delivered via a single-session bilateral injection into the perirenal fat under B-mode ultrasound guidance. This localized delivery approach aims to target the renal-sympathetic axis or local renin-angiotensin system components to achieve long-term therapeutic effects while potentially minimizing systemic side effects. It is currently undergoing exploratory clinical evaluation to assess its safety and efficacy.
