SC104

SC104 is an anticancer monoclonal antibody that targets a specific glycolipid antigen overexpressed on the surface of various tumor cells, particularly in colorectal cancer. Developed by Scancell, SC104 is distinguished by its ability to directly induce tumor cell death (apoptosis) without the requirement for immune effector cells or complement activation. This direct killing mechanism is mediated by homophilic binding properties that allow for the cross-linking of antibodies and receptors on the cell surface, subsequently triggering a classic apoptotic pathway characterized by caspase activation. It is part of a platform of antibodies (GlyMab) designed to target glycans specifically associated with tumor cells.
