Drug intelligence / Profile preview
SC27 is a monoclonal antibody with two distinct profiles reported in the literature. The first, developed by Scancell, is an antibody specific for the Lewisy glycan and has been investigated as a potential therapy for gastric (stomach) cancer. Its mechanism of action involves targeting the Lewisy glycan, which is associated with certain tumor cells[1][3]. The second profile describes SC27 as a broadly neutralizing plasma antibody isolated from patients with hybrid immunity to SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19). This version of SC27 binds to the spike protein of SARS-CoV-2 and related coronaviruses, blocking viral entry into host cells and demonstrating activity against all known COVID variants[2][4]. Both versions are at early stages of development or discovery.
