Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Scabremove is a topical antiparasitic medication containing permethrin, a synthetic pyrethroid. It is primarily indicated for the treatment of scabies, an infestation caused by the mite *Sarcoptes scabiei*. Permethrin exerts its effect by acting on the nerve cell membranes of the parasites, specifically disrupting the sodium channel currents that regulate membrane polarization. This disruption leads to delayed repolarization and respiratory paralysis of the mites. Scabremove is typically formulated as a lotion or cream for topical application, requiring a single thorough application to the skin from the neck down, which is then rinsed off after several hours.
