This increased hydration of the stratum corneum is thought to modulate the activity of fibroblasts and reduce the production of excess collagen, thereby softening, flattening, and improving the overall appearance and elasticity of the scar. In clinical research conducted by the University Hospital, Ghent, Scar Ban Elastic was evaluated for its comparative efficacy in skin occlusion and hydration against other silicone gels and hydrating creams.
