Overview

SCB-1001 is a recombinant protein subunit vaccine candidate developed by Clover Biopharmaceuticals for the prevention of rabies. The vaccine utilizes Clover's proprietary Trimer-Tag™ technology to produce the rabies virus glycoprotein (G protein) in its native trimeric form, which is the primary target for neutralizing antibodies. SCB-1001 is designed to be formulated with Clover's in-house CAS-1 adjuvant. The program aims to address limitations of currently approved rabies vaccines, such as production capacity, administration schedules, storage requirements, and cost. As of late 2022, the candidate was in preclinical development, with studies ongoing to support its advancement into clinical trials.
