Overview

SCB-1019 is a non-adjuvanted, bivalent respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) prefusion-stabilized F (PreF)-Trimer subunit vaccine candidate developed using Clover Biopharmaceuticals' Trimer-Tag technology platform. It targets both RSV-A and RSV-B strains by presenting the prefusion conformation of the viral fusion protein to elicit robust neutralizing antibody responses. In Phase I clinical trials in older adults (60–85 years), SCB-1019 demonstrated immunogenicity comparable to GSK’s AS01E-adjuvanted AREXVY and showed a favorable safety and tolerability profile similar to saline placebo. The vaccine induced high titers of neutralizing antibodies against both RSV-A and RSV-B, with an enhanced response against a potent RSV-B specific epitope compared to AREXVY. No serious adverse events or discontinuations due to adverse events were observed. Ongoing development includes evaluation as an RSV re-vaccination option for older adults and as part of a combination respiratory vaccine targeting other viruses such as hMPV[1][2][3][6][7][8].
