Overview

SCB0020160 is an orally bioavailable small molecule agonist of the G protein-coupled receptor 119 (GPR119), currently under development by SCBIO Inc. GPR119 is a lipid-sensing receptor primarily expressed in enteroendocrine L-cells and pancreatic beta cells; its activation stimulates the secretion of metabolic hormones such as glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) and glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide (GIP), which enhance glucose-dependent insulin secretion and improve metabolic homeostasis. While GPR119 agonists have traditionally been investigated for the treatment of type 2 diabetes and obesity, SCBIO is also exploring SCB0020160 for broader indications including advanced solid tumors and pulmonary fibrosis, potentially leveraging the receptor's role in metabolic and inflammatory signaling pathways. The compound is currently in Phase 1 clinical development, with studies evaluating its safety, tolerability, and pharmacokinetics in healthy subjects.
