Drug intelligence / Profile preview
SCD-Omegatex is a specialized formulation of omega-3 fatty acids, specifically containing docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) and eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA), developed for use in children and young adults with sickle cell disease (SCD). The product is manufactured using the active ingredient Solutex0656SCD. Its primary mechanism involves anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects attributed to DHA and EPA. Clinical studies have shown that supplementation with SCD-Omegatex can reduce vaso-occlusive crises, severe anemia, blood transfusions, white blood cell counts, missed school days, and markers of oxidative stress in patients with sickle cell disease. The formulation aims to improve quality of life by reducing pain sensitivity and providing antioxidant protection[1][2].
