Overview

SCD0503 is an oral formulation of regular human insulin developed by Samchundang Pharm. Co. Ltd. It utilizes the company's proprietary S-PASS (Samchundang-Protein Absorption System) platform, which is designed to enable the oral delivery of biologics by enhancing their absorption through the gastrointestinal tract. By converting insulin from an injectable to an oral dosage form, SCD0503 aims to improve patient compliance and provide a more convenient treatment option for individuals with type 1 and type 2 diabetes mellitus. The drug is currently being evaluated in Phase 1 clinical trials to assess its bioavailability, biopotency, and the impact of food intake on its pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics compared to standard subcutaneous insulin injections.
