Overview

Schisanalactone A is a naturally occurring triterpenoid isolated from the Vietnamese mushroom *Ganoderma colossum*. It belongs to the colossolactone family of compounds, which are characterized by the presence of a six-membered lactone ring (ring D) and, in some cases, a seven-membered lactone ring (ring A). Research presented at AACR 2017 highlighted its potential chemotherapeutic effects, demonstrating cytotoxic activity against several solid tumor cell lines, including breast (MCF-7), cervical (HeLa), colorectal (HCT-116), and liver (HepG2) cancer cells. In these studies, schisanalactone A exhibited IC50 values ranging from 4.9 to 64.2 µM. Additionally, the compound has shown weak antioxidant activity in DPPH free radical scavenging assays.
