Overview

SCL (Synthetic CAR Ligand) mRNA LNP is an off-the-shelf messenger RNA therapy formulated in lipid nanoparticles, developed by Exuma Biotechnology. It is designed to provide in vivo control over the expansion and persistence of CAR-T cells, a process the company describes as "CAR-T recharge." The mRNA encodes a synthetic ligand (a non-CAR target epitope construct) that, upon expression in the patient, interacts with the chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) on T-cells to provide a stimulus for their activity. This technology is intended to enhance the therapeutic efficacy and durability of CAR-T cell therapies for both solid tumors and hematological malignancies. It is currently being evaluated in Phase 1/2 clinical trials, notably in combination with Exuma's GCAR™ platform for the treatment of Large B-Cell Lymphoma.
