SCLife-LDD is an investigational small molecule thyroid hormone receptor beta (THR-β) agonist designed with liver-directed delivery (LDD) technology. Developed by SCLife, it is primarily indicated for the treatment of metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis (MASH), formerly known as non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH). The drug utilizes a liver-specific targeting mechanism to concentrate the active thyroid hormone analog within hepatocytes, thereby promoting lipid metabolism and reducing hepatic fat, inflammation, and fibrosis. This targeted approach is intended to maximize therapeutic efficacy in the liver while minimizing systemic exposure and the associated risk of thyroid hormone-mediated side effects in other tissues, such as the heart (tachycardia) and bone (bone loss), which are typically driven by THR-α activation.
