SCM-181 is an umbilical cord-derived mesenchymal stem cell (UC-MSC) therapy developed by Yunnan Shunxi Regenerative Medicine Engineering for the treatment of idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF). The therapy utilizes the innate ability of mesenchymal stem cells to home to sites of injury and exert potent immunomodulatory, anti-inflammatory, and anti-fibrotic effects. In the context of IPF, SCM-181 is designed to modulate the aberrant immune response and inhibit the activation of myofibroblasts, thereby slowing the progression of lung scarring and promoting the repair of damaged alveolar structures. The product received IND approval from the China National Medical Products Administration (NMPA) and is currently undergoing clinical evaluation to assess its safety and efficacy in patients with chronic fibrotic lung diseases.
