Overview

SCOV1 is a DNA-based vaccine candidate developed by Scancell Holdings for the prevention of COVID-19. Developed using Scancell's ImmunoBody platform, the vaccine is designed to induce high-avidity T-cell responses and neutralizing antibodies by targeting both the SARS-CoV-2 spike (S) protein and the nucleocapsid (N) protein. The inclusion of the N protein, which is more conserved across variants than the S protein, aims to provide broader and more durable protection against emerging SARS-CoV-2 strains. SCOV1 was evaluated in the Phase 1 COVIDITY clinical trial in South Africa, where it was administered using PharmaJet's needle-free Tropis and Stratis delivery systems to optimize DNA uptake and immunogenicity.
