Drug intelligence / Profile preview
SCP-Cisplatin is a preclinical-stage antineoplastic agent developed by Nexus Alliance Biopharmaceuticals, specifically targeting cervical cancer. This candidate utilizes the company's proprietary Self-Correcting Polymer (SCP) technology to formulate cisplatin, a well-established platinum-based chemotherapeutic. The SCP platform is designed to enhance the pharmacokinetic profile and therapeutic index of cisplatin by improving solubility, prolonging circulation time, and potentially reducing systemic toxicities such as nephrotoxicity and ototoxicity. Mechanistically, the released cisplatin enters tumor cells and forms covalent adducts with DNA, primarily intrastrand cross-links, which distort the DNA duplex, inhibit replication and transcription, and activate apoptotic signaling pathways.
