Drug intelligence / Profile preview
SCP-Doxorubicin is a novel formulation of doxorubicin using Specific Conjugate Particle (SCP) technology. It combines two different and independently acting compounds into one hybrid compound that can synergize, with potency greater than the sum of each moiety. The formulation is designed to target cancer stem cells in addition to differentiating cells, potentially overcoming chemo resistance and radio resistance that lead to traditional therapy failure. SCP-Doxorubicin is 4-5 times more soluble in water than conventional doxorubicin, with no precipitation or sedimentation observed even after 24 hours at room temperature. The solution remains stable over a wide pH range and has a shelf life of two years when refrigerated (8°C) and four weeks at 37°C.
