SCR-9171 is a bispecific T-cell engager (BiTE) molecule being developed by Simcere Pharmaceutical Group for the treatment of gastrointestinal cancers. It is a biologic therapeutic designed to simultaneously target Mucin 17 (MUC17) on tumor cells and CD3 on T cells, thereby recruiting and activating the immune system to eliminate MUC17-positive cancer cells. The drug is engineered with a humanized nanobody derived from camelids and a low-affinity CD3 antibody, a design intended to optimize antitumor efficacy while minimizing the risk of cytokine release syndrome (CRS). Preclinical studies have demonstrated potent cytotoxicity and strong antitumor efficacy in mouse models, along with good tolerability in cynomolgus monkey toxicology studies.
