Overview

SCR101 is a repurposed small molecule inhibitor of Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor (VEGF) being developed by AMD Therapeutics. Formulated as a topical skin preparation, it is designed with high skin permeability to effectively reach target tissues. The drug's primary mechanism of action is the inhibition of neovascularization and angiogenesis, which are key drivers in various dermatological conditions. SCR101 is currently in preclinical development for the treatment of acne, skin redness (erythema), keloid and hypertrophic scars, and post-surgical quality-of-life (QOL) management. By targeting the VEGF pathway, the therapy aims to reduce the excessive blood vessel formation and inflammation associated with pathological scarring and inflammatory skin disorders.
