Drug intelligence / Profile preview
SCTV01E-1 is a recombinant protein-based, multivalent COVID-19 vaccine candidate developed to provide broad protection against SARS-CoV-2 variants. It is closely related to SCTV01E, which is a tetravalent vaccine containing trimeric spike proteins from the Alpha, Beta, Delta, and Omicron BA.1 variants of SARS-CoV-2 and formulated with a squalene-based oil-in-water adjuvant (SCT-VA02B). The mechanism of action involves inhibition of the SARS-CoV-2 spike glycoprotein by inducing neutralizing antibodies that block viral entry into host cells. Clinical studies are evaluating its safety and immunogenicity in adults both previously vaccinated and unvaccinated for COVID-19[5][6].
