Drug intelligence / Profile preview
SCV-SMPOX is a vaccine candidate developed for the prevention of smallpox and mpox (monkeypox). It is based on a recombinant viral vector platform, specifically using the vaccinia virus as a backbone. The vaccine is designed to induce an immune response against orthopoxviruses, including both variola virus (smallpox) and monkeypox virus. Its mechanism of action involves stimulating both humoral and cellular immunity by presenting orthopoxvirus antigens to the immune system. The primary indication for this vaccine candidate is prophylaxis against smallpox and mpox in at-risk populations.
