SD-B04 is a botulinum toxin-based protein therapeutic being developed by Sinedore Medicine for the treatment of hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating) and sebum control. As a botulinum toxin derivative, it is designed to inhibit the release of the neurotransmitter acetylcholine from nerve terminals by cleaving synaptosomal-associated protein 25 (SNAP-25), a key component of the SNARE protein complex required for synaptic vesicle exocytosis. In hyperhidrosis, this blockade prevents the stimulation of eccrine sweat glands. For sebum control, the toxin is intended to modulate sebaceous gland activity to reduce oil production. SD-B04 is currently in the lead optimization and preclinical stages of development.
