Overview

SDJ001 is a genetically engineered oncolytic herpes simplex virus (oHSV) developed by West China Hospital of Sichuan University. It is designed to selectively replicate within and lyse tumor cells while sparing normal tissue. The virus has been modified to delete specific virulence factors to enhance safety and is engineered to express recombinant bispecific antibodies at high levels within the tumor microenvironment. This dual mechanism aims to directly destroy cancer cells and stimulate a systemic anti-tumor immune response. It is currently being evaluated in Phase 1 clinical trials for the treatment of advanced solid tumors, including melanoma and squamous cell carcinoma of the head and neck.
