Overview

SDMA (3,4-methylenethiooxy-N-methylamphetamine or MY100) is a putative entactogen belonging to the phenethylamine and amphetamine families, structurally related to MDMA. It functions as a serotonin–norepinephrine–dopamine releasing agent (SNDRA) and a non-selective serotonin 5-HT2 receptor agonist. In in vitro studies, SDMA demonstrated greater potency as a monoamine releaser compared to MDMA. It is currently being investigated for its potential therapeutic applications, such as in the treatment of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and may offer a reduced misuse potential due to a lack of rewarding effects observed in certain animal models.
