Drug intelligence / Profile preview
SDP-014 is a proprietary lyophilized nano-emulsion formulation of docetaxel developed by SD Pharmaceuticals. It is designed as an improved version of the standard chemotherapy agent Taxotere by eliminating the immunogenic solubilizer polysorbate 80, which is known to cause hypersensitivity reactions and other toxicities. As a taxane, the active ingredient docetaxel works by binding to tubulin and inhibiting microtubule depolymerization, which leads to cell cycle arrest and apoptosis. SDP-014 is intended for the treatment of various solid tumors, aiming to provide the efficacy of docetaxel with a potentially superior safety profile due to its novel delivery system.
