Drug intelligence / Profile preview
SDS089 is an intranasal spray formulation of sildenafil, a selective phosphodiesterase type 5 (PDE5) inhibitor, being developed by LTR Pharma for the treatment of pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH). The product utilizes a proprietary nasal delivery technology designed to provide rapid systemic absorption and bypass first-pass metabolism, which may result in higher bioavailability and a faster onset of action compared to oral sildenafil. SDS089 is currently being evaluated in a Phase 1 open-label, proof-of-concept clinical trial to measure its effect on pulmonary vascular resistance in newly diagnosed, untreated PAH patients using right heart catheterisation. By optimizing the delivery of sildenafil, SDS089 aims to improve the management of pulmonary hemodynamics in patients with PAH.
