Overview

SDX-309 is a small molecule indole-pyran analogue of SDX-101 (R-etodolac), which is the non-cyclooxygenase (COX)-inhibiting R-enantiomer of the NSAID etodolac. SDX-309 exhibits potent anti-tumor activity that is independent of COX-2 inhibition, distinguishing it from traditional non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs. Preclinical research has demonstrated its efficacy in inducing apoptosis in various cancer cell lines and primary tumor samples, with a notable preference for hematological malignancies such as chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) and multiple myeloma (MM). Additionally, SDX-309 has shown synergistic potential when combined with standard cytotoxic agents like vincristine. The compound was developed by Salmedix as a more potent derivative of SDX-101 for potential use in oncology.
