Overview

**Se@PB-ACPP** is an investigational brain-targeted nanozyme comprising selenium-loaded Prussian blue nanoparticles modified with an activatable cell-penetrating peptide. It is being evaluated preclinically as a neuroprotective treatment for Parkinson's disease. In an MPTP-induced mouse model, the material improved motor function, preserved tyrosine hydroxylase-positive dopaminergic neurons and tyrosine hydroxylase expression, reduced neuronal ultrastructural injury, and improved striatal dendritic morphology. Its proposed mechanism combines reactive-oxygen-species scavenging and anti-inflammatory activity, while the peptide modification is intended to improve brain targeting and selenium bioavailability.
