Drug intelligence / Profile preview
SE175 is an experimental organic nitrate vasodilator engineered as a nitric oxide (NO) donor with improved stability and reductive NO-release characteristics compared with traditional nitrates such as nitroglycerin and isosorbide dinitrate. It belongs to the same pharmacologic class as nitroglycerin, causing vascular smooth muscle relaxation via NO-mediated increases in cyclic guanosine monophosphate (cGMP), and has been investigated as a positive-control vasodilator in vascular and ocular models, as well as for encapsulation in peptide- or liposome-based nanocarriers for targeted delivery in placental and cerebral vascular disorders.[1][7][9][2][8]
