Drug intelligence / Profile preview
SEA-BCMA is a humanized, non-fucosylated IgG1 monoclonal antibody that targets B-cell maturation antigen (BCMA), a protein highly expressed on malignant plasma cells in multiple myeloma. The drug is designed to enhance immune-mediated killing of BCMA-expressing cells by increasing FcγRIII binding and promoting both antibody-dependent cellular cytotoxicity (ADCC) and phagocytosis. It also blocks BCMA-mediated pro-survival and proliferative signaling pathways in tumor cells. SEA-BCMA has demonstrated activity in preclinical models and early-phase clinical trials for relapsed/refractory multiple myeloma, including patients previously treated with other classes of anti-myeloma agents. The drug was originally developed by Seattle Genetics (now Seagen), which has since been acquired by Pfizer[2][4][5][6].
