**Split virion, inactivated seasonal influenza vaccine (Vero cell-derived)** is a trivalent, non-adjuvanted vaccine intended for active immunization against influenza, formulated for seasonal use. It contains split and purified influenza virus antigens (A/H1N1, A/H3N2, B) produced in Vero cells (a continuous mammalian cell line derived from African green monkey kidney), inactivated by formaldehyde and UV, and purified using sucrose gradient. Its mechanism of action is to induce specific immunity against the included influenza virus strains by generating neutralizing antibodies targeting the viral hemagglutinin proteins, thus conferring protection against influenza disease. This Vero cell-based platform avoids the use of eggs, allowing rapid scale-up and high purity formulations, particularly beneficial for individuals allergic to egg proteins or in times of pandemic preparedness. Immunogenicity and safety have been demonstrated in adult and elderly populations[1][3][4].
