Overview

Seasonal influenza vaccine (intradermal) is an inactivated hemagglutinin (HA) vaccine developed by Daiichi Sankyo for the prevention of seasonal influenza. It is administered via the intradermal route using a specialized delivery system developed in collaboration with Terumo Corporation. By targeting the dermis, which contains a high density of dendritic cells and other antigen-presenting cells, the vaccine aims to stimulate a potent immune response. The vaccine contains purified HA antigens from specific influenza A and B strains as recommended for the seasonal period. This formulation allows for a reduced volume of vaccine compared to standard intramuscular injections while maintaining comparable immunogenicity.
