Overview

The seasonal trivalent influenza vaccine including H1N1 is an inactivated biologic vaccine designed to prevent seasonal influenza. It contains hemagglutinin (HA) surface antigens from three WHO-recommended influenza strains: influenza A/H1N1, influenza A/H3N2, and influenza B. The vaccine works by eliciting the production of hemagglutination-inhibition (HAI) antibodies by the immune system's B-cells and T-cells. This specific formulation was evaluated by the Medizinische Hochschule Hannover in a Phase II clinical trial to assess its immunogenicity, safety, and tolerability in immunocompromised adults following solid organ or bone marrow transplantation, comparing their immune responses to those of healthy adults.
