Drug intelligence / Profile preview
A combination nasal spray containing **hypertonic seawater**, **manganese**, and **calcium** used primarily for relief or reduction of nasal symptoms (such as congestion, itchy nose, runny nose, sneezing) in conditions like allergic rhinitis. The mechanism of action is primarily mechanical and supportive: the hypertonic seawater provides nasal irrigation and mucociliary clearance, physically removing allergens and irritants. Manganese may act as a calcium channel blocker, potentially preventing the release of proinflammatory mediators like histamine and exerting antioxidant activity (superoxide scavenging). Calcium supports overall mucosal function. This combination does not act as a direct pharmacological treatment (such as antihistamines or corticosteroids), but through cleansing, moisture restoration, and supporting local defenses. Clinical studies support its use as adjunctive therapy to improve quality of life and reduce acute episodes of allergic rhinitis without typical side effects of conventional pharmacotherapy[1][2][3][7].
