sebaloxavir marboxil

Sebaloxavir marboxil is an orally administered small molecule prodrug developed by Nanjing Zenshine Pharmaceuticals for the treatment and prevention of influenza A and B infections. It functions as a cap-dependent endonuclease inhibitor, specifically targeting the polymerase acidic (PA) protein of the influenza virus. By inhibiting the endonuclease activity, the drug prevents the "cap-snatching" process required for viral mRNA synthesis, thereby effectively blocking viral replication. Sebaloxavir marboxil is currently being evaluated in Phase III clinical trials for the prophylaxis of influenza in household contacts and has also undergone clinical testing for the treatment of uncomplicated influenza.
