SebErb is an orally administered small molecule tyrosine kinase inhibitor (TKI) containing gefitinib as its active pharmaceutical ingredient. Manufactured by Genvio Pharma, it is a branded generic version of the innovator drug Iressa. SebErb specifically targets the epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) and is indicated for the treatment of patients with metastatic non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) whose tumors harbor specific EGFR mutations, such as exon 19 deletions or exon 21 (L858R) substitution mutations. The drug works by competitively and reversibly binding to the adenosine triphosphate (ATP)-binding site of the EGFR tyrosine kinase domain, thereby inhibiting autophosphorylation and blocking downstream signaling pathways that drive tumor cell proliferation and survival.
