sebetralstat

Sebetralstat is an oral, selective small-molecule plasma kallikrein inhibitor developed by KalVista for the on-demand treatment of hereditary angioedema attacks. It blocks plasma kallikrein within the contact system, thereby reducing bradykinin generation and limiting the vascular permeability that drives swelling in hereditary angioedema. The program was developed under the code name KVD900 and advanced through Phase 2 and Phase 3 clinical studies including KONFIDENT and its open-label extension; in July 2025, the FDA approved EKTERLY for acute hereditary angioedema attacks in adults and pediatric patients aged 12 years and older. KalVista has also partnered regionally for commercialization, including Kaken in Japan and Pendopharm in Canada.
